"There’s only one certainty in life. A strong man stands above and conquers all!" - Vegeta, Dragon Ball Z
Every now and then I choose to make a casual look to wear in-between session at conventions. To a lot of black teens, Dragon Ball Z was the introduction to the anime artform. This casual Vegeta jean jacket with jogger set was my homage to all the fun memories I created watching this show.
This jacket was constructed using a Mimi G sewing pattern for a jean jacket. The jacket itself was a white bull denim dyed with a RIT petal rose powder. From there it was cut and sewn according to the instructions. Unfortunately I made the sleeves too short so it was quickly retired. The back label was constructed using a faux crocodile pleather and felt for the backing. A satin zigzag seam was then applied to the outside edge. The joggers are a white performance stretch dyed with yellow polyester RIT dye. The stripe down the leg is just a stirp of double folded bias tape. The ankles do come unbuttoned with the help of plastic snap buttons.
